- Great earbudsThis is a great set of earbuds. I'm reviewing this several years after I've bought them. I still use a pair on my ipod. The sound quality overall is great, and for the price it sounds even better. The strength of these earbuds are the bass and the fit. I find that it produces some high quality low distortion bass and the ear fit with the 3 sizes of ear molds work well. To get the best sound you have to make sure they are thoroughly in your ear, but they block out external sound quite well. I've had to return a few older models 3 or 4 times becasue the jack kept getting frayed but they have an excellent warranty. They've sent me back three new packaged earbuds at no cost, no questions asked - you just have to answer a few warranty questions. They also seem to take their returns seriously because after the 3rd time, the jack was redesigned and I haven't had a problem since. I bought my first pair in 2007 and these have been the only brand/model earbuds i've had to use. And now they're $40-50 cheaper than when I've first bought them.  - Great sound and fit - BROKEN after mild usageI'm mad they burned up when I plugged them into my iphone. They are about 3 years old but spent a lot of time not being used. I got about 3 months of real use out of them. But just at a desk. It better not have burned out my iphone port!!!  - Satisfied repeat customerAfter buying and replacing 3 sets of iPod earbuds with Apple in just 6 months, I decided to spend a little more $ and bought the FIRST generation VModa earbuds. I love these and had no problems with them at all. Finally, after using this set for 3 years, the connection at the input end is beginning to fail. I have to move the wire a bit to get it sound through both sides. VModa has fixed this problem, supposedly. Obviously, with the smooth chrome at this end, it was bound to be a weak spot as I have to apply quite a bit of force to get it to disconnect from the device. Supposedly VModa has fixed this by going to a 90-degree angled male end. Well, I'm waiting for a new pair to show up next week as I am tired of adjusting the wire at the device end all the time. Hopefully the new pair hold up as well as my first pair. - Sounds good, but the cord is now brokenThink twice before getting these earbuds. Like the people reviewing before me. My cord just recently broke at the plug end. I like to wrap my cord around my mp3 player and stuff it in my pocket, backpack, bag, etc. but after a year or so of doing this. The cord starts to weaken and then it finally breaks at the plug end. So if you are one to do this, you might want to stop. I'm disappointed that I know have to buy a new pair. Looking at the newer v-moda models. It looks like they learned their lesson and now use a big plastic cap on the end. While I would not consider them audiophile grade (as they artificially emphasize bass), they provide a pleasant warm sound to most recordings. One thing that I've grown to truly appreciate in a set of earbuds is the durability and build-quality. These wires/wire-casings are virtually indestructible and the connection between the wires and the earbud module are very sturdy so I don't have to be concerned about abusing them or how I stow them in my pocket. This is more than I can say for many of the high-end Sony earbuds which have wire casings that seem to disintegrate within a year. This is a great all-around set of earbuds.
